The future very much depends on the financial fortunes of the Owner and the Sponsors. The aim has been to continue racing/ralling the car well into the 21st Century. In the past the Team has relied on small sponsors and has met the shortfall primarilly out of the owner's pocket. This has worked but,and it is a very big but, the Team has never been able to build up a decent spares inventory nor improve the competitiveness of the car as we would like. Thus any major malfunction in engine or transmission has meant a complete withdrawal from the event. The car itself is very strong and has survived two major offs. An auto transmission is available but we lack the funds to give the go ahead to build it. More urgently we need a spare modified torque converter. This lack of this spare part cost us any chance of a place in Targa Tasmania 2001 We have another complete motor being bulit but with the shortage of funds this will not be complete until early 2002. Further modifications to the basic car are limited if we are to maintain the original concept of a Classic race car. However within the various rules there is room to lighten the car and increase the braking performance. Which brings us to the nub of the challenge.
Sponsorship.
Sponsorship falls into 3 basic categories.
1. Targa Florio Team Supporters.
Team supporters pay NZ$30.00 per year. For this fee they recieve a supporters T shirt, Key ring and current poster calendar. In the future they will also get other merchandise at a discount. Individual supporters also get newsletters outlining the teams progress throughout the racing season if they don't have nternet access.
2. Targa Florio Team Individual Sponsors.
These individuals donate funds in excess of NZ$500.00. Receipts are available. They will receive invitations to all sponsors events as provided by the event organisers. They will also qualify for rides in the race car as allowed by the various event organisers. They will be mentoned in the sponsor's list if they wish.
3. Targa Florio Team Corporate Sponsors.
These sponsors gain direct advertising space on the race car. The size, colour and style of advertising is by agreement between the Owner and the Sponsor. In the future we hope to offer advertising on the Teams' Home Page. The minimum funds required to gain corporate sponsorship is NZ$1,000 per season Jan 01 - Dec 31). Corporate sponsors also get the same privilleges as Individual Sponsors.
